Changes to my study programme

Well let's start, first I of all, I must say that when I  was looking for careers, or more than anything a university to study design, I didn't know much about what I was looking for 😅, I tried to compare the study programme of each university and see which one seemed better to me visually.

I didn't understand much about what the design career would be about, so when I started studying It was a little bit like going in "blind". But what I have learned in these two years I have liked and it's a motivation to keep studying. (In my opinion, I think it's hard to explain what studying design or being a designer is because many people have different ideas about what it is).

So far, I am satisfied with the subjects I am taking 😊. However, there are two things I would like to change, especially during the first year. There are courses that might be necessary but I find them very boring (like mathematics 😕).

On the other hand, I really feel that what one learns changes a lot depending on the teacher in charge. Sometimes it's a good thing, but at the same time, it's detrimental because we don't have the same teachers later, and we have to learn certain things autonomously.

I would like to add that for the duration of the degree, I would like it to be somewhat like a technical program where we have practical experiences that bring us closer to the real world. I think it would be a great addition, and everything we learn can be turned into skills by using them in a real context.

Talking about the faculty infrastructure, I would say it's not that bad.

It doesn't have all the comforts, but still, it's a good place to study. For example, the classrooms are a place where classes can be held, but sometimes the acoustics are very poor, and it's hard to hear what is being said.

Anyway, I think that when I finish my studies, the university will have many improvements for students in the infrastructure (or at least, that's what I like to think).

  2. Hi Andrea, I think the same as you, and about our career, I would recommend the organization that makes the program to try to be clearer with it, because really when I readed the program for the first time I didn’t understood it, because it's very general, and for that I had to watch a video of someone who studied at the university and explained it.
